Red Bayberry (Myrica rubra), also known as Yangmei or Chinese Bayberry, is a rare and highly prized fruit tree known for its sweet-tart, juicy berries with a rich, complex flavour. This evergreen tree thrives in warm climates and produces clusters of deep red to purple berries that resemble raspberries. The fruit is packed with antioxidants and has been used in traditional medicine for centuries.

Red Bayberry trees prefer well-draining soil, tolerate a range of conditions, and can handle mild frosts once established. While they are dioecious, meaning both male and female trees are needed for fruit, some varieties are known to set light crops without pollination. The trees are highly ornamental with attractive, glossy leaves and make excellent specimen plantings.
