Common Names: White Cherimoya, Ice Cream Fruit, Custard Apple
White is a California created cherimoya variety that loves the Perth climate. It is more cold tolerant than regular custard apples and handles our winters well. The fruit has a creamy, snow white flesh with a smooth texture. It tastes like a mix of mango and papaya. Most people reckon it is best eaten chilled with a spoon, just like a natural sorbet.

Mid to late season variety.
White cherimoya trees are fast growing and semi-deciduous. They lose some leaves in late winter before the new spring growth kicks in. The flowers are very fragrant and smell just like the fruit. While they are hardy once established, they enjoy regular deep watering during our dry Perth summers. This variety is a heavy cropper and is famous for having a lower seed count than other types.
Interesting Notes:
The fruit is a nutritional powerhouse, full of vitamin C and fiber. Mark Twain once called the cherimoya the most delicious fruit known to men. Because they ripen in winter and spring, they provide fresh homegrown fruit when most other trees are dormant.
