Common Names: Cranberry, American Cranberry
Cranberries are low-growing plants that love a damp spot in your garden. They produce small tart red berries that are famous for sauce at Christmas.
These plants grow like a carpet on the ground and look great in hanging baskets or as a groundcover. They need acidic soil to stay happy and healthy in Perth.
Perth doesn't get the chill of 1000-1500, so you'll probably get only a couple small fruit at best. The plant will do well in the coldest parts of WA. Plants may stress at anything over 33c.
Features:
Ideal prune height range: 10-20cm
pH growing conditions: 4.0 to 5.2
50% Shade, ensure afternoon shade at least
Minimum pot year 5: 20L wide pot

These little shrubs like plenty of water and do not want to dry out. They have tiny evergreen leaves and pretty pink flowers in spring. Since they stay low, they are perfect for filling gaps under taller fruit trees. You just need to keep the soil acidic with some peat or sulfur.
Interesting Notes:
Cranberries are a superfruit that help keep your body clean. You can freeze the berries to use all year in muffins or drinks. Watching the green berries turn bright red is the best part of autumn.
