Java Plum is a tough, drought-tolerant tree known for its rich purple fruit and glossy leaves. Native to the Indian subcontinent, it's widely grown across tropical and subtropical regions. The fruit is deep purple to black when ripe, with sweet flesh and slightly astringent skin. Can be eaten fresh, turned into wine, vinegar, or jam, or dried for storage. The tree is fast-growing and forms dense shade, with smooth bark and attractive green foliage that makes it a feature plant in any garden. Looks Aussie and very easy to grow in Perth.
