Beltran Strawberries

Botanical Name: Fragaria x ananassa 'Beltran'

Common Names: Beltran Strawberry, Beltran Everbearing Strawberry

Beltran is an everbearing strawberry variety bred specifically to thrive in compact spaces, pots, and hanging baskets. It produces a steady supply of medium-sized, conical fruit with a brilliant deep red color and a sweet, juicy taste. It is an easy performer for home gardeners wanting reliable crops from spring right through autumn.

Features:

Ideal prune height range: 15-25cm

pH growing conditions: 5.5 to 6.5

Shade or full sun: Full sun to part shade (needs protection from afternoon summer sun in hot climates)

Minimum pot year 5: 3-5L pot or standard hanging basket

Time to fruit age: Fruits in its first season

Beltran strawberry plants feature an attractive compact, semi-trailing habit and clear white blooms that appear continuously alongside developing fruit. They perform exceptionally well in garden beds, window boxes, and hanging pots. Regular watering and consistent feeding during the fruiting period will keep the plant producing fresh berries over several months.

Interesting Notes:
Beltran's cascading growth habit makes it decorative as well as edible, keeping fruit clean off the ground when grown in elevated containers. The berries are packed with vitamin C and make a top choice for fresh snacking, kids' lunchboxes, desserts, or homemade preserves.

Beltran is a favourite for small-space fruit growers and urban gardens looking for high yields from a small footprint.
