Cherry of the Rio Grande is a hardy evergreen tree from Brazil that grows well in Perth gardens and excelent North of Perth, including Broome. The fruit is dark purple and tastes like a mix of cherry and plum. It is a great choice for growers who want a beautiful tree that produces heaps of delicious berries. These seeds are easy to germinate and sprout quickly with basic care.
Eugenia involucrata comes from the wild forests of Brazil. You can also find it growing naturally in parts of Uruguay and northern Argentina. Because it comes from South America, it loves our sunny weather but does not mind a bit of a chill in winter. It is much tougher than most other tropical plants because it grew up in places with changing seasons.

This tree has peeling bark and shiny green leaves that look great all year.

The fruit is high in vitamin C and can be eaten fresh or made into jams.4 Unlike real cherries, this tree does not need cold winters to produce fruit. It is much easier to grow in WA than traditional stone fruit.
