ESALQ Red ticks a lot of boxes. Quick to fruit, one of the sweetest jaboticaba and a famous  variety straight from a famous Brazilian agricultural school. It is an awesome tropical fruit tree that grows perfectly in backyard food forests in Perth and even cooler areas too. This tree is super tough and rewards you with huge, deep red fruit that grows right on the trunk.

The fruit grows up to 4cm wide and packs a super sweet punch with a tiny seed inside. The skin is thick and full of nutrients, which makes it perfect for rich jams or deep red homemade wines. Seedlings grow fast for a jaboticaba and are very easy to look after.

Interesting Notes:

This tree loves plenty of water during the warm summer months to pump out the best crops.

The name comes from the top research school in Brazil where it was selected for its massive size and great flavour.
