Also known as Peludo de Alagoas or Large Leaf Jaboticaba in Australia, *Plinia spirito-santensis* (or jabuticaba peluda de cruz, meaning hairy cross jaboticaba) was first identified by Mr. Grimal in the late 20th century. It has since gained popularity, becoming the second most commonly grown Jaboticaba in Australia.

Grimal Jaboticaba is perfect for beginners due to its resilience. It tolerates slightly less acidic soil than other varieties and has good drought tolerance, making it ideal for areas with occasional water shortages.
