Features:
Ideal prune height range: 4–6m for easy picking, but can reach 15m if left unpruned.
pH growing conditions: Neutral to slightly alkaline (pH 6.5–7.5). Good drainage is key.
Shade or full sun: Prefers full sun once established, but protect young plants from hot, harsh afternoon sun in summer.
Minimum pot year 5: 70L pot or larger.
Time to fruit age: 4–5 years from a grafted plant, or 7–10 years from seed (these are seedlings, so 7–10 years).
Lucuma trees are tough! They handle our Perth heat and dry conditions quite well once their roots are established. They’re slow-growing but long-lived.
Plant it in well-drained, sandy loam soil. It thrives in frost-free, warm temperate to subtropical climates—so it's a great choice for a lot of WA.
