Macadamia A4 is a grafted variety from Queensland that produces high yields in Perth. It has an open growth habit and a high percentage of kernel recovery. The nuts fall to the ground when ripe for easy harvest. It is a hardy tree once established and handles local sandy soils with organic matter. Still, required shade for first few years.

The A4 variety has a high percentage of whole kernels after cracking. It is a commercial standard due to its reliable crop size and nut quality. The shells are thick and protect the nut from pests.
