Millaa Millaa Vine
Elaeagnus triflora – also known as Silverberry Vine or Bush Currant
This rare native vine produces edible red berries with a sweet-tart flavour and golden speckles. The leaves have a coppery underside, and small white star-shaped flowers bloom in spring. It’s not just ornamental — the vine fixes nitrogen, supports soil life, attracts pollinators, and fruits well in tropical to subtropical climates. It can be pruned into a bush or allowed to climb. The fruit is rich in lycopene and can be eaten fresh, made into jams, or brewed into tea.
