The Malabar Chestnut, also known as the Saba Nut or Money Tree, is a versatile, medium-sized tree that’s a stunning addition to any garden. Grown worldwide for its edible seeds, it also makes an excellent indoor potted plant or outdoor specimen. Its fragrant, large white flowers with cream-white stamens are a highlight, blooming in spectacular clusters. The woody green pods split open to reveal seeds that can be eaten raw or roasted, tasting like chestnuts or cashews. The seeds can also be ground into flour, while the young leaves and flowers are delicious when cooked as vegetables.
