Premier is a vigorous, early-ripening rabbiteye blueberry known for its heavy yields of large, light-blue berries with exceptional flavor. Highly adaptable and robust, it handles heat, humidity, and varying soil conditions much better than highbush varieties, making it an outstanding choice for warmer temperate and sub-tropical regions.

Premier grows into a large, upright, multi-stemmed shrub with bright green foliage that turns brilliant orange and red in autumn before dropping in winter. Spring brings a heavy flush of bell-shaped white-to-pink flowers, followed quickly by clusters of firm, sweet fruit with small, dry picking scars that store very well. Like all rabbiteyes, it boasts a tough, fibrous root system that tolerates organic-rich soils better than more sensitive highbush types.

Interesting Notes:
Premier has a moderate chill requirement (approx. 450–550 hours), making it ideal for mild-winter climates where cold snaps are brief.

While partially self-fertile, rabbiteye blueberries perform significantly better when cross-pollinated; planting Premier alongside varieties like Climax, Brightwell, or Powderblue drastically increases crop yields.
