$15 for 3 plants
Strawberries are one of the easiest and most rewarding fruits to grow at home. They’re compact, perfect for pots or vertical towers, and fruit heavily through spring and summer. With proper care, each plant can produce hundreds of juicy red berries that burst with flavour. Most varieties are self-pollinating and grow well in Perth if given enough water and afternoon shade during hot months. They also send out runners, giving you free new plants each year.

Plant strawberries in rich, composted soil with regular moisture and a layer of mulch or straw to keep fruit clean. In hot Perth suburbs, provide some afternoon shade or use a vertical planter near a wall. Keep well-fed with organic liquid fertiliser, especially during flowering. Protect from slugs and snails early on, and net plants if birds discover them.
Strawberries are a must-have for edible gardens, balconies, schools, or beginner growers. Kids love picking them, and they’re a sweet reward for very little effort.
