Mazuma is a true wasabi variety, not horseradish in disguise. It produces the prized rhizome used in traditional Japanese cuisine, but the leaves and stems are also edible and mildly spicy. Mazuma is known for growing slightly faster and being more forgiving than other types, making it a top choice for home growers. It prefers dappled light, cool roots, and rich, moist soil—perfect for pots or shady garden corners. Grown right, it rewards patience with pungent green gold.

This plant thrives best in a cool, consistently moist environment with good airflow and drainage. It can be grown in protected outdoor areas or indoors under shade. Keep roots cool in summer and mulch well. Don’t let it dry out.
