White Currant – Ribes rubrum (albino form) is a rare but rewarding deciduous berry bush that produces translucent pearl-like fruit with a sweet-tart balance. Unlike red currants, white currants are lower in acidity and perfect for fresh eating, preserves, and garnishes. The bush is compact, thornless, and suitable for hedging or pots. It thrives in cool climates and requires a cold winter to fruit reliably. In some Perth gardens will fruit with difficulty.
