Broadleaf Papaya is a fast growing heirloom variety that needs protected conditions.  It produces extremely large broad leaves that provide shelter to its stem and fruit. The fruit is long, sweet, and packed with tropical flavour, making it a brilliant fast producer for local home growers.

Broadleaf Papaya grows quickly in warm soil and likes protection from winter cold. It produces fragrant flowers followed by heavy crops of sweet orange fruit. It thrives in well drained soil packed with organic matter and regular water during warm months. Works well in large pots or straight in the ground.

Interesting Notes:

The fruit is rich in papain enzymes and antioxidants which aid digestion and health.

This heirloom strain sets fruit much lower on the trunk than typical commercial papayas, keeping harvests within easy reach.
